Please monitor your medications to avoid a delay in refilling
your medications. We recommend that you check the status of your medications
before each physician office visit so that you can ask for refills while you’re
in the office. Between visits, you can request a refill by calling the office during regular office hours, or by using this form.
Medication
refills will not be given after business hours (no evenings, weekends or
holidays) without the patient being seen by a physician.
Pain
Medication Refills
Due to federal laws and pharmacy regulations, most
narcotics/controlled substances (such as pain medication) cannot be telephoned
in to the pharmacy. They can only be written and signed by a physician during
normal business hours. These prescriptions must be picked up at the physician’s
office during business hours by the patient or an authorized family member.
Otherwise, the office will mail the prescription to your pharmacy to avoid a
delay in refilling your medications. Any person picking up the prescription
must be listed on the personal health information disclosure list to assure
privacy and confidentiality is maintained.
If you are requesting pain medication when the office is
closed, the on-call physician will direct you to visit an Emergency Department
to be evaluated for pain management. Prescription medications are written with
the intent that the contents of the medication will be used solely by the
person for whom the prescription is written.
Refills
by Phone
When calling the office, remember to have your pharmacy
telephone number available for refills or new medications that may be
prescribed for your symptoms. Please have an alternate pharmacy number
available if your primary pharmacy is not open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you have not received information about your refill
request by mid-afternoon on the day you called, please phone the office before
4 p.m. to assure that your request will be addressed. The on-call physician will not be able to assist with any medication
refill requests.
