On Saturday, January 11, OHC’s team of medical, radiation and gynecologic oncology doctors invited all OHC employees to a special celebration to express their gratitude for the exceptional care and compassion they surround patients and their family members with every day.
“It takes a special person to work with cancer patients,” said Elizabeth “Betsy” H. Levick, MD, radiation oncologist and Chair of the OHC Board of Directors. “It’s more than a job. It’s a calling to serve and heal people who are facing one of the most difficult times of their lives. Our employees are incredibly knowledgeable and skilled at treating the physical and medical aspects of cancer. And they’re equally gifted with the ability to know exactly what to say and do to help with the emotional challenges our patients experience throughout their cancer journey.”
With more than 500 people in attendance, the evening began with time for the doctors to mingle with employees and share their appreciation in person, one-on-one. After dinner, employees with milestone years of service were acknowledged.
“We’ve been blessed with some of the most compassionate employees,” said D. Randolph “Randy” Drosick, MD, medical oncologist, hematologist and president of OHC. “The caring that I have witnessed in our employees comes from a beautiful place in their hearts. I truly love each of them and what they do for our patients,” he added.
The sole purpose of the event was to express gratitude to OHC’s employees and who better to share their gratitude than through the words of OHC patients.
“We shared one of the most uplifting videos I’ve ever seen that featured some of our patients telling our employees how much their strength and support meant to them. It was so beautifully touching. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place,” Dr. Levick added.
