David Pratt, MD, is a radiation oncologist who serves as the co-medical director of the Gamma Knife program at The Jewish Hospital – Mercy Health. His specialties include lung cancer, brain tumors, stereotactic radiosurgery and Gamma Knife radiosurgery. Dr. Pratt decided to specialize in radiation oncology during his third year of medical school when his father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Radiation therapy was one of his father’s treatment options. “At the time, I knew nothing about this treatment. As I explored the field, I was drawn to the blend of advanced medical technology and a high level of patient care and interaction.”
Dr. David Pratt teaches his patients about their illness and helps them navigate and understand the many tests performed as a part of their treatment. “I have compassion for our patients and their families and the situation they’re in. I give them plenty of time to ask questions and strive to address their concerns as best as possible.”
When he’s not working, Dr. Pratt enjoys spending time with his family, working with a varsity scout team, and coaching basketball and soccer.

Patient Reviews
Dr. Pratt helps my mom with her cancer and treatments, he has helped me as well. My lung cancer was inoperable in 2017 and he and his staff were very successful in significantly reducing my cancer nodule to where it is almost nonexistent. I have seen seen him regularly for check ups since 2017 and he seems very concerned about my health after the treatment. I have to say, he is probably the most thorough and caring doctor I've ever had and I trust whatever he says. – J.B., February 2021
Dr. Pratt is always very caring and explains everything completely. – J.C., February 2021
Dr. Pratt always explains and shows me the reason or reasons why I'm having any such pain. He listens to my concerns and answers any questions that I might have. He is a wonderful doctor, and I'm so glad I get to be his patient. Keep up the good work!!! – S.R., January 2021
I was especially impressed with Dr. Pratt, who was a new doctor for me. He spent at least an hour one-on-one with my husband and me, explaining the pros and cons of different treatment options, and did not try to push his type of treatment; in fact, he did not recommend it for my case. He patiently answered all of our questions with obvious expertise on the subject and did not make us feel rushed in the least. I have never had a doctor spend so much time individually with me. – M.M., January 2021
