2017 cancer chopped champions

Each year OHC (Oncology Hematology Care) and Cancer Support Community (CSC) bring together four “chefs” for fun, laughter and education as they battle their way to become the new Cancer Chopped Champion!

This year marks the third annual Cancer Chopped Champions, to be held on Wednesday, September 19 from 6:30 – 7:30pm at the Edwin H. Greene Intermediate Middle School, 5200 Aldine Dr. Blue Ash 45242.

Competing this year for the coveted title are:

  • Jennifer Gerson, MD, a radiation oncologist with OHC
  • Ajit Gubbi, DO, a gynecologic oncologist with OHC
  • Robin Baliszewski, an OHC patient and breast cancer survivor
  • Maureen Riopelle, an OHC patient and breast cancer survivor and former CSC volunteer

“Cancer Chopped Champions is such a unique event that increases awareness about the services available for cancer patients and their families through OHC and the Cancer Support Community, and it does so in a room filled with laughter, chopping, mixing, cooking and chaos!” said John Sacco, MD, 2016 Cancer Chopped Champion winner.

The esteemed judges for the 2018 competition are:

  • Kimberly Johnson, OHC patient, breast cancer survivor and 2017 Cancer Chopped Champion
  • Rhonda C. Marcotte, Chef/Owner, Flash in the Personal Pan Chef Service
  • John Sacco, MD, OHC radiation oncologist and 2016 Cancer Chopped Champion
  • David Waterhouse, MD, MPH, OHC medical oncologist and 2017 Cancer Chopped Champion contestant
  • Patrick Ward, MD, PhD, OHC medical oncologist and 2017 Cancer Chopped Champion contestant

“It’s so fun watching the chefs prepare their dishes while racing against the clock,” said Kelly Schoen, Executive Vice President of Programs for CSC. “I saw some mystery ingredients being added, a little bribing of the judges, and some food prep techniques I don’t think would be approved by the Culinary Institute. But most of all, I saw wonderful people come together to help cancer patients and their families.”

The event fills very quickly, so if you’d like to join in the fun, please RSVP to Cancer Support Community at 513-791-4060.
