A farewell party was hosted on Feb. 4 by Dr. Bismayer’s OHC colleagues. Dr. Randy Broun, OHC president, presented him with an engraved crystal statue recognizing his 37 years of dedication to compassionate patient care.

It is with mixed feelings that OHC announces the retirement of our beloved and much appreciated Dr. John A. Bismayer, M.D. His last day is Mon., Feb. 8, 2016. His medical career has spanned close to four decades and his time with OHC has been memorable for many of us.

His accomplishments at OHC were celebrated during a retirement party where staff toasted Dr. Bismayer and shared memories.

One of his patients shared, “I am here to tell you that you are one of the most awesome physicians and friends I have ever had the privilege to meet. I have progressed due to your excellent care from a 46 year old with a family who you told had four to six years to live to today; 12 years later and I’m still in remission and feeling great! I sincerely hope that you and your family enjoy good health and prosperity, just like you have afforded my family.”

Dr. Bismayer smiles and enjoys an “Epic” retirement cake at his OHC Anderson office.

Dr. Bismayer is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. After graduating from medical school at the University of Illinois, he completed a residency and fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, followed by an additional fellowship at Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago. He has provided compassionate care for OHC patients since 1978.

Dr. Bismayer plans to travel and spend time with his wife Cindy and their family.
