OHC, specialists in adult cancer and blood disorders, is excited to announce that Joseph N. Shaughnessy, M.D., has joined its staff of physicians as a radiation oncologist practicing at OHC’s Anderson and Blue Ash offices.

“Dr. Shaughnessy is a excellent physician who strives to provide patients with the optimal balance of compassion and physician expertise. We are proud to have him on our team,” said E. Randolph Broun, M.D., president and chairman of the board for OHC. “In addition to providing first-class cancer care, he’s dedicated to improving the quality of life for his patients. He will be an asset to our patients and their families.”

As a radiation oncologist, Dr. Shaughnessy’s professional interests include breast cancer, head and neck cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, gastrointestinal cancer and skin cancer. He’s a member and diplomat of the American Board of Radiology and a member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiation & Oncology.

Dr. Shaughnessy is board certified in radiation oncology with a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from the University of Notre Dame. After graduating from medical school, he completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Louisville Hospital. He completed his residency in radiation oncology, where he was chief resident from 2013-2014, at the University of Louisville James Graham Brown Cancer Center. He also served as an assistant professor at the University of Louisville Department of Radiation Oncology.

“As OHC continues to expand its footprint across the Tri-state region, Dr. Shaughnessy will provide additional services and support for patients in northeastern Cincinnati,” said Dr. Broun. “We believe that by providing treatments closer to home, we can lessen the stress on individual patients and their families, which aids in the healing process.”

A Northern Kentucky native, Dr. Shaughnessy is looking forward to returning to the Tri-state from his time in Louisville for medical school.
